A large, modern addition to Mill House provides an inviting space for crafters to come together to create with their chosen materials. Whether sewing, quilting, scrap booking, knitting, crocheting, drawing, painting, writing, or just visiting with friends old and new, this room has ample space for your group. We provide 6' tables and comfortable, adjustable chairs. Tables and chairs will be set up when you arrive; however, guests are welcome to rearrange them in any configuration. Two wide rectangular ironing boards with irons are provided, as well as a cutting table. Six 4' X 8' design wall boards are available for guests' use. Extension cords and power strips are also available.
Purchases - (Not Yet Available)
There will be a limited supply of "forgotten" items for sale at the house. Things such as thread, small scissors, seam rippers, hand needles, machine needles and more will be available. These will be sold on the honor system, with cards provided to the crafters to fill out with their names and contact info, and room on the back to list their purchases.
We will also make a run - if needed - from our shop, Rossville Quilts. Orders will need to be made one hour before close of business. Purchases will be delivered to the retreat center shortly after closing. Prices charged will be the same as in the shop. There is no delivery charge for this service.
Rossville Quilts' Hours
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sewing Machine Rentals
BERNINA Sewing Machines are available to rent during your stay. You will need to come to Rossville Quilts before checking in to Mill House to meet your machine and have a quick lesson in basic usage. Prior notice is appreciated, however if you run into a problem with your own machine while at Mill House, give us a call. We'll see if we have a rental available for you. Depending upon timing, we may be able to have our technician available for repairs on your own machine if needed.
While not yet housed on the premises, we plan to bring in a 5' quilt frame to use at Mill House. A BERNINA machine with stitch regulator will be on the frame. You will need to provide your own batting and backing. If anyone in your group wishes to use the quilt frame, a basic lesson on using the machine will be given. Please do not attempt to use unless you are familiar with the frame and machine. This machine and frame are provided for your convenience and are not guaranteed to be available during any particular time period. We cannot be held responsible for the quality or any damage caused to your project by the quilting on it!
We have many plans in the works on additional items to enhance your experience at Mill House. While we don't want to unveil right now, we will add them here as we actually bring them in. Keep watching!
The workspace indoors at Mill House is wonderful, with the original exterior of the house at the opposite end of the room from your worktables. A sectional sofa for relaxing while still visiting with your fellow crafters is at this end of the room. Some of you will enjoy the wide deck just outside the doors to the north which runs along most of north side of the house. Take a break outside and soak in the nature. Watch the birds and squirrels, and maybe a deer or even a wild turkey! The outside of Mill House is as beautiful as the inside.
